Concussion Information for Parents & Guardians

The health and safety of our student-athletes is a priority at Rio Vista High School. If a student-athlete sustains or is suspected of sustaining a concussion while participating in RVHS Athletics, the resources below provide important information regarding concussion symptoms, medical evaluation, Return to Learn, school accommodations, and Return to Play procedures.

IMPORTANT: A student-athlete who is suspected of sustaining a concussion or head injury must be removed from athletic activity for the remainder of the day and may not return to participation until evaluated and cleared in accordance with CIF concussion protocols.

Parents/guardians should seek immediate medical attention if their child develops worsening or concerning symptoms following a suspected concussion. The CIF Acute Concussion Notification Form identifies emergency warning signs such as worsening headache, repeated vomiting, increasing confusion, difficulty waking, seizures, weakness/numbness, slurred speech, or loss of consciousness.
